On losing weight

Instead of sharing another recipe for Meatless Monday, I've decided today to write a bit about my vegetarian journey in general and also take the opportunity to introduce our newest member of our house, Otto. A carnivore to the very last.

But that's enough about the cat. Surely, one might be curious about how I'm doing 3 weeks into my diet of no farmed meat. Considering I'm losing about 1/2 pound, I'd say I'm doing fantastic. I eat till I'm full... beans, rice, cheese, eggs, desserts - and gallons of water. Best. Diet. Ever. I should mention that I've eliminated all glucose-fructose items from my kitchen, as well as 98% of unrecognizable ingredients (-ulcides, -glycerides, -colour, et. al.)

I don't crave a big steak or a perfectly roasted chicken... it's the little things. Today I wanted peperoni on my pizza, but that's pork and/or beef and a host of sodium laden chemicals and preservatives. Come to think of it, most of my 'meat' cravings are really salt cravings. Bacon, salami, sausage, beef jerky....

No point to this post really. Just rambling. I suppose a nice tip for losing weight: Drink water. 500 - 750 mL before meals and 3 - 4 liters/day. You'll pee as though you're pregnant but the weight sure comes off. For all the cheese I've been consuming, I'm probably eating a higher fat diet than when I was eating meat... so it has to be the water.

Ta Da!
