Found Friday kind of fell in my lap yesterday. On garbage day this week, a flock of starlings flew of the set of Alfred Hitchcock's "Birds" and tore apart several garbage bags on the street. The strong winds of that afternoon helped out and scattered everything (that should have been in a yellow box in the first place) up and down the street. Tonight, when I took the dogs out to do their business, I rescued the following slip of paper from being urinated on by the large mangy looking white beast we call Mojo.

So, apparently one of my neighbors is a nurse and doesn't follow standard health-care patient confidentiality protocol of shredding notes. I'm rather disturbed to find this... and also sort of sad. Reading "...brain tumor triple bypass - still smokes..." made me stop and reflect for a minute about just how lucky I am... and about how lucky the ones I love are. It really hits home and affirms my decision to live healthier.
Haunting really... that could easily have been a note about me in 35 years.
Disturbing about the note. I too have bad habits that I've had to toss by the wayside and wasn't too quick to do it w/ all of them. Stress is the ongoing one that is rough.
ReplyDeleteMy mom passed away due to complications from Type II diabetes. They found candy wrappers in her car and she was living w/ a chain smoker. Complications are easy to come by when you don't treat yourself right.
