You're Watching Treehouse (and PBS, TVO, etc...)

It took me days to finally start writing this first post under the "Treehouse" category. I mean, where does one start? With an infinite supply of children's media and programming to choose from, it's not unlike trying to compose a song on a piano with a billion keys. Should I do a comparative 'old vs. new' post, review the worst programming out there, perhaps choose a program that's enjoyable to parents to examine - a movie, a TV show, a character?

After this first post, Treehouse Tuesday will no doubt be the easiest category to write through the week. So, to start we'll take a quick glance at some of the shows I intend to review over the next year or three. My youngest only a couple months old as I write this, so I suspect I have at LEAST another 5 or 6 years of being subjected to these programs and the characters within:

The Backyardigans
Sesame Street (and its derivatives)
Kai Lan
Dora & Diego
Thomas and Friends
Max & Ruby
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Four Square
Toopy and Binoo
The Wonderpets
Super Why
Sid the Science Kid
Barney
Rory the Racing Car
Curious George
Chuggington
Caillou
Guess with Jess
Dragon
Harry and his bucket of Dinosaurs
Dinosaur Train
The Wiggles
Yo Gabba Gabba
The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That

...probably more... I came up with this list off the top of my head in under 3 minutes! Then for those times that I'm in a nostalgic mood, I'll travel back before the age of Treehouse to the days when Saturday morning cartoons were still a "thing" and review such warm favorites as:

The Friendly Giant
Barbapapa
Romper Room
The Polka Dot Door
Mr. Dressup
Fred Penner

...and if I dig really, really, REALLY deep... Captain Kangaroo.

These lists are in no way an ordered schedule of posts, this is just how they appeared in my head, so if you're anxious to see a review or critique of a show from these lists, or perhaps have something in mind I have missed, please let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to accommodate.

  1. If I had to sit down and watch one of those shows right now, it would be Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs. I also quite enjoy Charlie and Lola, do your kids watch that one?

  2. I'm not familiar with that one at all... I'll have to check it out. My favorite of late is Backyardigans.
